IE7: Please don`t install me
Today I installed MS Internet-Explorer 7® on my Windows-System. Actually I though I can get it done
quickly, to check how some Websites render with the new Version of IE. But the whole proccess is not as easy as you might think. It starts already with the download ceremony: When you come from the WindowsXP® Homepage, you need several clicks to come to the actual download page (even though there is a big banner on the start page). If you`re there you need to download a misterous "Plugin". It`s said that it`s needed to validate your MS-Windows copy. After clicking "next" once again you have to download another little script, that`s providing you the key, you need to enter, to be allowed to download the holy browser. After doing so, you need to click "next" another two times and there you are: IE7 is finally downloading!
After the download you will experience a rather fast installation progress. During the installation your Windows Version is checked again, if it`s really a legal copy. After all you have to restart your computer (of course). And finally you are able to use.... a browser.
Installing XGL/Compiz on Linux is almost as complicated as this
. The difference is, you have a much better result.

BTW: IE7 also still got problems with the Acid2 Browser test. Screenshot
