F-Spot Gallery export

If you have a Gallery* setup running in the web (like me) and are using F-Spot to manage your Fotos (like I do), you might be interested in this Blog-Post.

This F-Spot Logo is a short HowTo how you can export pictures from F-Spot directly in one of your Gallery albums.
First you have to install the Remote-Module into your Gallery installation. Download and Install the Module by activating it in your Gallery admin-interface.
After that, you can use the exporter in F-Spot. You can reach it after selecting the Fotos you want to export and go into the File menu. Go to Export > Export to Web-Gallery. That will open a dialog to manage the export. First you have to register your Gallery installation, by clicking the Add button and adding your Gallery details. That will connect F-Spot with your Gallery. After that you can select the Available Albums from the dropdown and export your pictures to your online Gallery.

Why Linux is better

I just dicovered that webpage and want to quickly promote it here: www.whylinuxisbetter.net.
It sums up some reasons why to change to Linux and it also mentions the only few reasons where Linux isn't the perfect plattform for (yet). It's exactly the points I also see: Gaming, Pre-Print production and the use of special Software without a Linux clone.

Happy Birthday Debian!

Debian LogoDebian is celebrating it's 15th Birthday today. Debian was probably the most important Linux Distribution in the history of Linux and is the base for many other Distros too. It was also the most popular non-commercial GNU/Linux System over the years.

Stealing domains ist stealing!

The Piratebay LogoIf you call someone a criminal and don't play by the rules yourself, that doesn't make your statements sound really serious. As for example the IFPI is taking much more illegal actions against others, than their "enemies" can ever do. As it is happening in Italy at the moment (just to give you one example).

P.S. In case you found the headline of this post sounding a little stupid, you probably don't know this clip yet: Anti-Piracy Ad from the IT Crowd :-P

Banshee 1.0 came out

Banshee 1.0 was finally released a few days ago. Yesterday I got it installed on my Ubuntu machine. Ubuntu Debs are already there too available in the Banshee Ubuntu repository.
If you have tried Banshee and didn't like it in the earlier versions, you should give it another shot it's really worth trying. Except of the brilliant last.fm integration we heard about already, it has many other improvements too and finally we have an Artist/Album browser as well! ;-)

Yet another nice Music-Player

I already now a few players for the Linux desktop, like Rhythmbox, Banshee, Muine, AmaroK, Exaile and some others. Some of them have developed to really nice pieces of software, like Banshee and Rhythmbox, which offer a nice music management along with a nice GUI. I already wrote about the upcomming version of Banshee for example.
Today I discovered (via blog-post) another nice player which is still quite young, but looks good. It's name is BMPx following the Beep Media Player (BMP), but it has a completely new interface. The Integration of music web-services is well done. Like Last.fm for example. But it also offers other stuff you already know from Rhythmbox, like Jamendo integration and of course Podcast and Internet-Radio management. Worth to give it a try at least.
