GNOME 2.22 release
Die neue Version GNOME 2.22 wurde heute offiziell freigegeben. Eine Übersicht der Neuerungen findet man auf dieser Seite. Ich glaube ich sollte mal wieder mein Ubuntu upgraden...

Screenlets
Da seit ich auf Ubuntu Gutsy aktualisiert hatte das 
Screenlets-Repository für deb-Pakete nicht mehr erreichbar war, hatte ich mir bisher Screenlets nicht wieder installiert. Heute musste ich jedoch feststellen, dass
Nach der Installation macht es Sinn, sich noch ein paar weitere Screenlets von gnome-look.org herunter zu laden. Dort gibt es auch ein Paket mit einer Auswahl an Screenlets.
Und zur Feier des Tages habe ich natürlich auch noch gleich ein paar Screnshots angefertigt, die es nun in meiner Galerie zu bestaunen gibt.

Heute musste ich jedoch feststellen, dass http://hendrik.kaju.pri.ee/ubuntu/ wieder erreichbar ist. Somit habe ich nun Screenlets wieder am laufen und habe dafür natürlich auch Compiz-Fusion wieder aktiviert. Ansonsten funktioniert die Transparenz ja auch nicht. Nach der Installation macht es Sinn, sich noch ein paar weitere Screenlets von gnome-look.org herunter zu laden. Dort gibt es auch ein Paket mit einer Auswahl an Screenlets.

Auf der diesjährigen Constantly improving
Since yesterday I have the very bleeding edge version of Rhythmbox on my Computer [Screenshot]. I have to admit that there are some nice GUI modifications, that have been made since the last version I have seen. Rhythmbox was 
the Music-Player and Tool which could convince me most so far. Actually I am using Rhythmbox from it's very beginning and tried already many other music players too. But somehow I always came back to Rhythmbox, because it developed to exactly what I expect of a todays music player.
It's not overloaded, as AmaroK for example and has a clear GUI. It has become also very stable recently and does everything a user needs, including a growing number of useful plugins. Also the way tracks are organized satisfied me more, than in all the other players I have seen so far.
So I really have to say thank you to the developers of Rhytmbox. Thank you, that you made dealing with digital music a more convinient thing!

The Future of GNOME
I just
saw that a the roadmap for the GNOME 2.2 relases is out. There are many good improvements on the list. So, if you are a GNOME user it's really woth a look.
Another good news is, that Ekiga (VoIP client) is finally getting a nice GUI with a proper contact list. So it will offer more usability than the ancient GnomeMeeting look. The new GUI will be first used in Ekiga 3.0.
So we can expect nice things to happen in the near future. GNOME 2.20 will come out on the 19th of September (according to the schedule), including the version 3.0 of Ekiga.
